Staff COVID-19 FAQ

COVID-19 FAQ

Staff Information

The CMOS strategy team is working hard planning the company’s journey through COVID-19.

This plan has two main goals:

  • Happy and Healthy Clients
  • Happy and Healthy Staff

More information, detail and progress will be shared directly with clients and shared with staff across the staff Facebook group.

As expected, we have had some clients suspend their jobs for the duration of the lockdown. The positive news is that they have been quick to let us know that they still want CMOS people to keep their offices clean after lockdown and zero contracts have been cancelled as a result of lockdown and the increase in alert levels.

This means that we can expect to be moving out of lockdown, just as quickly as we went into it!

Experts are suggesting that rolling lockdowns could be the reality until Covid-19 is under control, so the CMOS Strategy Team is working on ideas that enable us to adapt and pivot quickly both into and out of lockdowns, and commercially in terms of our business offerings and how we support clients and meet the challenges ahead!

Under Alert Level 2 & 3 maintaining social distance from others not in your household bubble is strongly recommended and for those using public transport, face masks must be worn.

On-the-job, we have robust processes in place that align with Worksafe and the Ministry of Health guidelines for safety, personal hygiene, and cleaning procedures. If you feel unsure of what to do, or want a refresher about what to do on-site to keep yourself and others safe, please contact your Supervisor or Account Manager.

If you are worried about any symptoms you have, contact HealthLine for free 0800 358 5353, check the COVID-19 website OR get in touch with your regular Dr via phone. Please follow the Ministry of Health guidelines if you are feeling unwell and let your Supervisor know if you suspect you may have COVID-19.

CMOS supports you to do the right thing for our team of 5 million – so if you’ve been told to get a covid test or to self-isolate please do that immediately and get in touch with your Supervisor or Account Manager as soon as possible.

For now, keep tracking where you go and who you see, wash your hands regularly, wear a mask on public transport and when away from your home, maintain at least 1-metre social distance from others.

We understand this is an uncertain time and we care about your safety at work. Please contact your Supervisor and explain why you feel uncomfortable going on site. We will try and do everything we can to make sure you feel comfortable going to work.

If you decline to work, we will talk with you to understand the reasons you may have to decline. We will work together to find the best solution and will work with you to ease any concerns you have, alternatively, you may feel more comfortable choosing to take some leave.

CMOS is receiving most of our information about processes and keeping our people safe is from the Covid-19 website and the Ministry of Health website and we recommend these two sites over all others for up-to-date information about Covid-19 in New Zealand.

We are asking all staff to help us by doing the following three things:

  1. Be open and willing to adapt to new ways of doing things – we are all learning as we go!
  2. Follow CMOS cleaning processes, health and safety procedures and MOH guidance on general hygiene – Protect yourself and others and help stop the spread!
  3. Immediately, let us know if you ever feel unsure of how to perform a task safely

We will continue to pay you for the hours that you have been able to work on sites.

Unfortunately, some of you will be affected on Tuesday as some jobs have been paused. While this is to be expected under the circumstances, CMOS clients don’t pay for services while their cleaning is paused and so we cannot pay you for sites that you are not cleaning at the moment.

CMOS is not currently eligible for wage subsidy payments but we are closely monitoring this. Also, as the situation develops and our Government reviews and updates the support packages available, we’ll let you know ASAP if anything changes!

In the meantime, to ensure CMOS continues to thrive on the other side of COVID-19, we have agreed on the following with all of you from the 28th February and up until the 6th of March 2021 our approach will be

  1. For any cleaning hours you work, you will be paid your normal hourly rate.
  2. For any cleaning hours not worked you can elect to take paid or unpaid leave.

CMOS will continue to meet all Government Regulations regarding pay and employment relationships. We will also try, wherever we can, to better these.

Cover/extra work

There may be an opportunity to work on sites where another cleaner is away and you could cover them. If you are interested in this, please let your Supervisor / Account Manager know.

Holiday pay cashout

After one year of employment, you can cash a maximum of 1 week of holiday pay every year. If you wish to do this, please contact your Account Manager or Payroll and they will check your entitlement for this year.
